Special Collections Projects in the Humboldt Room

The Humboldt Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Humboldt State University Library, is available to local community members and writers, as well as HSU students,  for research on any aspect of local history. Writers have used the Humboldt Room for a wide array of projects.


​Fall 2015
​Creative Writing Fiction Class

Students in the fall 2015 Creative Writing Fiction class used the letters from students who were serving in the armed forces during World War II to research and write historical fiction and understand epistolary genres.


​Spring 2016
​Creative Writing Fiction Class

Students in the spring 2016 Creative Writing Fiction class explored the Smith (Norman) Notebooks from 1918-1943 to practice research-based approaches
​to creative writing.
